Hassman joins Cravey Real Estate Services

Lee Hassman has joined Cravey Real Estate Services, Inc. Lee will specialize in the sale and leasing of retail properties. He has over thirty years experience in the real estate industry. In the seventies, Lee worked for Bear Stearns & Co. for five and a half years on the floor of the NY Stock Exchange. For the next twelve years he was an entrepreneur running auctions for goods confiscated at the border for the Ontario Provincial Government. During the same time, he owned retail stores in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

Lee then started his real estate career 1984 with Bramalea, Ltd. a large developer of office, malls and apartment complexes. In 1997, Lee was sent to Corpus Christi by Great Oak Development a REIT to lease and dispose of Sunrise Mall. Lee has lived in Corpus Christi ever since.

In 2015, Lee started working toward his CCIM designation.

Lee Hassman brings to Cravey Real Estate many years of experience in the retail industry. "We were looking for somebody to add to our retail team and Lee has the knowledge and ability I was looking for. I am most impressed with his work ethic and attention to detail. Perry joins Cravey Real Estate Services

Richard (Dick) Perry has joined Cravey Real Estate Services, Inc. Dick will specialize in the sale and leasing of commercial, industrial and agricultural land. Dick has over thirty five years experience in the real estate industry. He grew up in Corpus Christi and has strong ties to South Texas.

Dick holds a BBA in Finance from SMU. He serves as a Trustee and Business Manager of the Perry Foundation. Dick had experience in Banking where he served as Chairman of the Board at the Bank of Robstown for five years before it was sold. He also has performed numerous appraisals and has extensive experience in managing agricultural and commercial real estate such as farms, grain elevators, livestock feedyards, warehouses and office buildings.

Fauver joins Cravey Real Estate Services

Scott Fauver has joined Cravey Real Estate Services, Inc. Scott will specialize in the sale and leasing of properties related to the medical industry. Scott graduated from Texas A&M University – Corpus Christi with a Bachelor of Science Degree. Subsequently, he worked as a Neonatal ICU Nurse at Driscoll Children’s Hospital and a Pharmaceutical Sales Representative for Merck & Company and Abbott Laboratories. During that time, he earned an award for Nurse of the Year, was recognized at the district, regional and national levels for sales results, and successfully negotiated numerous hospital contracts throughout South Texas.

Moreau joins Cravey Real Estate Services

Chandler Moreau has joined Cravey Real Estate Services, Inc. Chandler will specialize in the sale and leasing of industrial properties. He grew up in College Station, Texas and attended Texas A&M University in Corpus Christi where he received a degree in Accounting and a minor in Economics. After College, Chandler interned as an internal auditor for Price Waterhouse Coopers.

Realizing his passion for Real Estate and Commercial Investments, Chandler joined Cravey Real Estate in 2014.

Garden Ridge coming to Corpus Christi

Sam’s Club will be closing their store located at 4949 Greenwood Drive, Corpus Christi, Texas and moving to the southeast corner of South Padre Island Drive (HWY. 358) and Everhart Road. This is the location of a former Wal-Mart that was recently torn down to make room for the larger Sam’s Club. Sam’s made the decision to move closer to the new proposed Costco which is rumored to be located at the southeast corner of Rodd Field Road and South Padre Island Drive (SPID). Sam’s move is seen as a strategic move to counter the newer and more upscale Costco.

Costco Wholesale Corporation is a membership-only warehouse club that provides a wide selection of merchandise. As of July 2012, it is the second largest retailer in the United States, the seventh largest retailer in the world and the largest membership warehouse club chain in the United States.

Wal-Mart which owns Sam’s Club listed the property at Greenwood for $3,700,000. Employees of Sam’s and other sources that don’t want to be named, confirmed that Garden Ridge will be taking over the old Sam’s Club location. We have not confirmed whether Garden Ridge has the property under contract or an investor/developer will lease the property to Garden Ridge. We contacted Garden Ridge to confirm but they refused to comment.

We feel that Garden Ridge will be an excellent replacement for Sam’s and a good use of the building. According to Wikipedia, Garden Ridge is a privately held home decor retail chain based in Plano, Texas. Starting in 1979 with just one store in Schertz, Texas, the store was then known as Garden Ridge Pottery.

Matthew Cravey, President of Cravey Real Estate Services, Inc. represented Sam’s Club in the purchase of the land on Greenwood Drive in 1985. The site is 17 acres and the original building was 106,000 square feet. Later the building was expanded to it current size of approximately 138,000 square feet.
